Dominique is the first painting of a series entitled "People and Plants". Each painting represents a season and Dominique reigns in the Summer.

She, like many of Ze Haus' artistic designs and products, are inspired by Kenzie's home and travels abroad throughout the Caribbean.

Dominique, meaning "of the Lord" is of French origin and the feminine form of Dominic.

Symbolically, the leaf covering her head is a metaphysical  interpretation of the biblical scripture that quotes "...guard your heart and mind".

Also in many cultures, plants are used to adorn the crown of one's head who might be a victor or of elite status.

The courageously bold colors used are indicative of land and sea. Her skin dark as the earth, connected to the green palm leaf. The background of the painting is loud as the rolling sea and sky above.
